Hi, I’m Nilton Oliveira \u2014 a Linux infrastructure specialist, self-taught programmer, and open-source evangelist. I’ve been running Linux systems since 1999, which means more than 25 years of terminals, servers, and the occasional 3 a.m. incident.<\/strong><\/p>\n I work as a senior DevOps and infrastructure analyst<\/strong> in S\u00e3o Paulo, Brazil \u2014 currently at Bionexo<\/strong> \u2014 managing environments built almost entirely on Linux: Debian, Ubuntu, OpenSUSE and friends, from bare metal to the cloud. I write code in Golang, Python, Perl, PHP and Bash<\/strong>, usually to automate away the boring parts of infrastructure.<\/p>\n This blog, LinuxPro<\/strong>, is where I share what I learn: hands-on tutorials about Linux, servers, e-mail, DevOps and, these days, running AI workloads on your own hardware.<\/p>\n My Linux journey began with Slackware<\/strong>, moved through Mandrake with KDE, and really caught fire with Kurumin Linux<\/strong>, the legendary Brazilian distribution by Carlos Morimoto. I was fascinated by Kurumin’s “magic scripts” and needed to know how they worked \u2014 that curiosity pulled me into Perl (the natural next step after Bash), then Python, and eventually Golang.<\/p>\n I helped in the Kurumin community forums, contributed to the Kurumin-NG<\/strong> project, and translated Ubuntu packages in the early days alongside my good friend Og Maciel. Since then I’ve contributed documentation, translations, scripts and bug reports to projects like XenServer, Samba4, ISPConfig 3 and NagiosQL<\/strong>.<\/p>\n There are 230+ repositories on my GitHub<\/strong> \u2014 most of them in Go, my language of choice for infrastructure tooling. Certifications and training along the way include LPIC-1, ITIL, SUSE Certified Linux Administrator<\/strong>, IPv6 (NIC.br), NetApp storage, and plenty of networking, hardware and electronics courses.<\/p>\n I created two hands-on courses on Udemy, in Portuguese:<\/p>\n Before IT took over, I dabbled in gymnastics, animation, comic drawing and photography. I’m an avid reader and a video game lover \u2014 the geeky side is not a bug, it’s a feature.<\/p>\n I still have a lot to learn, but I also have a lot to share.
